ISLA Americas Submits Comment Letter to SEC on FINRA's Proposed SLATE Rules

Advocating for our membership, ISLA Americas, in collaboration with ISLA EMEA and on behalf of the entire ISLA Group, has submitted a comprehensive comment letter to the SEC in response to FINRA’s Partial Amendment No. 1 to the proposed SLATE™ Rules (FINRA Rule 6500 Series).

This effort reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing transparency and efficiency in securities lending while ensuring the practical alignment of new regulations with industry needs.

Key highlights from our submission include:

  • Support for Simplifications: Welcoming FINRA’s efforts to streamline reporting requirements while advocating for further alignment with operational realities.
  • Concerns Regarding Implementation: Addressing the challenges of unclear technical specifications and fee structures, emphasizing the need for sufficient guidance and time for industry readiness.
  • Recommendations for Improvements: Proposing adjustments to reporting specifications, loan data requirements, and deadlines to reduce burdens and foster efficiency.
